Man seriously injured in Wallaceburg crash

A three-vehicle crash in Wallaceburg involving a school bus has sent a man to the hospital in serious condition.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said on Thursday shortly before 4 p.m., a pick-up truck travelling on Murray Street near Base Line sideswiped a stopped school bus before crashing into another pick-up truck.

The driver of the first pick-up, a 56-year-old Wallaceburg man, was rushed to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Sydenham Campus with life-threatening injuries, and then transfered to a hospital in Windsor.

No one else was injured in the crash and there were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.

Murray Street was closed for several hours between McNaughton Avenue and Base Line to allow officers to conduct an investigation. The road was reopened to traffic shortly after 8 p.m.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Const. Dan Carroll at 519-355-1092.
