Collision leads to probation charge
A collision is Dover Township has landed a man in hot water.
Police responded to the single-vehicle collision on Tundra Road around 8 p.m. Sunday.Through investigation, police learned that the driver was under house arrest.
As a result, a 26-year-old from Chatham was charged with breaching his probation order and careless driving. He was released with a future court date.
Total damage was estimated at $1,500 and no injuries are being reported.
Man charged after allegedly driving high
An out-of-town man is facing an impaired driving charge after a traffic stop in Chatham.
According to police, an officer on general patrol initiated the stop around 4 a.m. Monday on Park Avenue.
The officer suspected that the man was driving while under the influence of a drug and gave the man a roadside sobriety test, which he failed.
He was arrested and taken to police headquarters where a drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation and also believed the man to be impaired.The 30-year-old Barrie man has been charged with impaired driving. He will be released pending a future court date.
Fire under investigation
Police are looking for tips after a fire on Welch Line.
Police say a shed and vehicle were destroyed by fire sometime over the weekend.
Through investigation, police learned that inside the burnt shed was a vehicle, believed to be a Lincoln MKX and that it did not belong to the property owner.

Stunt drivers stopped on Hwy. 401
A couple of drivers are facing charges for allegedly speeding on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
A 22-year-old from Hamilton was stopped near the Orford Road exit on March 5 around 4:13 p.m.
The driver was charged with racing a motor vehicle, driving while under suspension, and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance. The driver is accused of going more than 50 km/hr over the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The Hamilton driver will have to go to court to answer to the charges on April 8.
In a separate incident on the highway, OPP said a 30-year-old from Leamington was stopped near the Bloomfield Road exit on March 6 at 11:03 p.m. The driver was charged with racing a motor vehicle and driving while under suspension. The Leamington driver has a future court date set for April 29.
A charge of racing a motor vehicle comes with an automatic vehicle impoundment for a week and a seven-day licence suspension.
Man charged with break and enter
Police were able to bust a man for break and enter thanks to a call from an observant citizen.
Officers got reports of a suspicious man wearing a ski mask and riding a bicycle near a scrap yard on Queens Line.
Officers attended the area and located the bicycle along a fence. They were able to follow fresh shoe prints into the scrap yard and locate the man, who was still wearing a ski mask.
A 27-year-old from Chatham was arrested and charged with break and enter. He was released and given a future court date.
Woman charged after allegedly stealing whisky
A 22-year-old is facing charges in connection to a shoplifting incident involving liquor.
Police originally responded to a theft complaint at the LCBO on Wellington Street in Chatham last month.
Officers identified the woman responsible for stealing a $36 bottle of Crown Royal and were able to locate her Sunday night.
The Harwich Township woman was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.
She has since been released with a future court date.
Man arrested on outstanding warrants
On Sunday night police nabbed a man wanted for two shoplifting incidents.
The 38-year-old of no fixed address was wanted in connection to thefts at Sport Chek and No Frills in February.
He was eventually released with a future court date.
