Chatham-Kent's Pet and Wildlife Rescue is taking proactive measures due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The organization announced Monday afternoon that it will be limiting some of its services until further notice.
Only the following services will be available at PAWR's Chatham and Wallaceburg locations:
-Scheduled surrenders
-Stray drop-offs
-Stray reclaims
-Quarantine services for dogs and cats
-Scheduled adoptions
-Food pickups from the food bank
Animal control will continue to operate as per usual and all calls will be addressed. Any volunteers are being asked to schedule their visits with a volunteer coordinator.
"Over the past week, Pet And Wildlife Rescue has been closely monitoring the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic," said Myriam Armstrong, operations manager. "While the risk of exposure to the virus at our shelters is currently low, the risk may increase with the influx of foot traffic during holidays and school closures."
The organization plans to post frequent updates to keep residents up-to-date on the situation.
