Bluewater Power's office is closed to walk-in traffic as part of its pandemic response.
President and CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis said they're implementing protocols to keep employees safe, while working to ensure power continues to flow.
She said they're also being as flexible and compassionate as possible with utility customers about the payment of bills.
"We will not be disconnecting any residential customers [for non-payment] for a 90-day window to allow people to get through and get this behind us," said McMichael-Dennis. "This will hopefully help people get back on their feet. It may seem small but it's something that we can make a conscious effort. There are other things that are possible to be done but there's only certain degrees of the power system and billing that are controlled here locally."
Michael-Dennis added, however, that bills will still need to be paid to ensure the integrity and reliability of the power system.
Financial assistance programs, including emergency relief, are also available to customers.
