Avon Maitland School Board prepares update

Parents of children in Avon Maitland schools will shortly be receiving an update on what the board is doing to help them continue to review what they've done in school so far this year.

Schools remain closed.

The letter will include a list of resources provided by the Ministry, as well as programs put together by Avon Maitland Staff.

Superintendent of Education, Kate Creery said, “What we're looking at right now is providing supports until the sixth of April for parents and families to do as much continuous learning as they can and are able to do, using the resources we've put together.”

Creery said the ministry has put out a Learning at Home portal that has several different resources and the Avon Maitland has added to that will a list of resources prepared by their curriculum experts. So Creery says the students may not be learning anything new up until April 6. But she added they will be reviewing.

The board is also working on new programs that will help students after April 6 and until the schools can finally open again. Resources and more information can be found on the Avon Maitland website.
