COVID-19 causing Midwestern Ontario municipalities to make major changes

The COVID-19 pandemic is resulting in many changes in the 36 municipalities across Midwestern Ontario as local governments try to cut off opportunities for people to spread the virus.

Landfill sites are closing or implementing new restrictions across the region, and some recycling programs are also being impacted.

Trails, parks, playgrounds and conservation areas are closing to stop people from congregating. That follows closures of municipal offices, facilities and community centres earlier.

However, many municipalities are also doing what they can to help by deferring payments or penalties. Support and action plans are also being put in place to help those affected.

You can check your municipality's website or contact your local municipal office for more information.
