Service centres along two of Ontario's major highways will be brewing up some hot and caffeinated thank yous for truck drivers this week.
All 23 ONroute locations on Highway 401 and Highway 400 will be providing free coffee for truckers all day on Wednesday, as a thank you for maintaining the provincial and national supply chain during the COVID-19 crisis.
“ONroute is proud to support the essential services provided by so many workers during this time,” said Melanie Teed-Murch, CEO of ONroute, in a news release. “We have the opportunity to serve our trucking and supply chain sectors and hope that this small token of appreciation demonstrates our gratitude for the many ways they are helping our province and country during this challenging time.”
Truck drivers looking to take advantage of the offer will be asked to provide proof of trucking licence or association membership if available.
Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney and Health Minister Christine Elliott issued a statement last week praising truckers on the province’s roads and highways.
“In these extraordinary times, we have extraordinary heroes. Our truck drivers are these heroes. They are working long hours, day and night delivering food and equipment and other essential supplies for Ontario families,” said Mulroney and Elliott in their statement.
ONroute service centres continue to operate as an essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing 24/7 access to fuel, washrooms, food, and truck parking.
