Organizers of this year's Highland Games in Kingsville have cancelled the event set to take place this June.
"We gratefully thank all who have contributed to the Kingsville Highland Games thus far," said Highland Games Committee Chair Doug Plumb.
The Town of Kingsville said the committee would reach out to all who made advance payments so they can get a refund.
"Planning an event on this scale takes a lot of commitment and work, and we want to acknowledge our Highland Games Committee for the effort they put into coordinating the 2020 Games," added Mayor Nelson Santos in a news release. "Cancelling is certainly unfortunate, but current circumstances call for decisions to be made in the interest of public safety."
The cancellation is the latest of a long string of announcements since the pandemic began last month.
The release also said the Highland Games would go ahead in 2021.
