Police confirm train crash killed pedestrian in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police have confirmed that a serious train collision in downtown Chatham early Tuesday morning claimed a local man's life.

The investigation continues, but police said so far, they have learned that the train hit a pedestrian who was crossing the tracks near the King Street and William Street crossing just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old Chatham man, died as a result of the crash.

The Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation and anyone with information is still asked to contact Constable Josh Flikweert at joshuaf@chatham-kent.ca or 519-355-1092.
