London Shoppers Drug Mart employee tests positive for COVID-19

A Shoppers Drug Mart in London had to close temporarily after a team member tested posted for the novel coronavirus.

A statement from Loblaw confirmed that an employee from the Sherwood Forest Mall, located on Wonderland Road N. near Gainsborough Road, recently tested positive for the virus.

"We are reaching out to the local public health team and have taken a number of steps to minimize risk, including increased disinfectant protocols and enforcing social distancing practices in the store," said Catherine Thomas, senior director of external communication.

According to Thomas, the store was closed for a thorough cleaning and has since reopened.

The employee has not been at the store since April 6.

Thomas added that any employees who worked closely with the individual are currently self-isolating at home and monitoring for symptoms. Customers who recently made transactions at the locations are also being notified.
