More Community Living employees test positive for COVID-19

Community Living Wallaceburg is continuing to feel the fallout from an outbreak of COVID-19 after more employees tested positive.

The organization said four more staff members have contracted the virus, bringing to the total to nine employees.  Community Living said the four new cases entered self-isolation on Friday, while the five others remain quarantined at home as well.

The positive test results were shared with the families of the people supported and agency personnel this afternoon," the organization said in a news release. "Community Living Wallaceburg remains in close contact and is closely following the directives and guidance of [the] Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit."

Community Living Chatham-Kent, which is operated separately, also has three employees who were diagnosed with the virus earlier this month.

Public health officials said last week that the outbreaks at both organizations are under control but can’t guarantee more positive cases won’t appear.

A total of 29 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Chatham-Kent as of Friday. Of those, one person has died and 12 have recovered.
