A federal and provincial grant worth $3.6 million has been awarded to Chatham-Kent to address public transit projects.
Municipal officials said applications for the grant were submitted in May of 2019, through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).
Some of the projects listed under the ICIP include terminal upgrades, more bus shelters, and new public transit vehicles with enhanced information and technology.
"Achieving this important milestone allows the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to proceed with projects designed to better serve our transit users and to improve public transportation services for the community," read a release from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
CK Transit is currently operational, however, some scheduling adjustments have been made due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
