A 27-year-old Belle River woman will have to hitch a ride with someone else for the next week after she was stopped for speeding on Wheatley Road.

Chatham-Kent police said the woman was charged with stunt driving after an officer pulled over a vehicle that was recorded going 132 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Man under house arrest in Windsor picked up in Chatham

A call about a suspicious man on Thames Street in Chatham Wednesday morning ended with local police arresting a man who was supposed to be in Windsor.

Chatham-Kent police said when they were responding to the call at around 7 a.m., they found a man who appeared to be in medical distress, so paramedics took the man to the hospital for medical attention.

The man identified himself to police, but officers said they later learned that he was not who he said he was. When officers learned the man's true identity, they learned that he was bound by a house arrest in Windsor.

Once the man was medically cleared, he was arrested and charged with one count each of failing to comply with his release conditions and obstructing police. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman hides in bedroom until police come to help

A 32-year-old Walpole Island man is in trouble with police after he allegedly showed up at a woman's home in Wallaceburg after he was ordered to stay away from her.

Police said the man was released from custody on April 10 with several conditions including two that required him to stop communicating with a specific Wallaceburg woman and to stay away from her residence.

However, police said they arrested the man after he allegedly showed up at the woman's home on Wednesday and tried to talk to her. Investigators said the woman hid in a bedroom until officers arrived.

Police said through their investigation, they learned that the man was also wanted for similar offences earlier in the week.

The accused was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
