Taste of Tecumseh latest festival cancelled because of COVID-19

After consulting with the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach, the Town of Tecumseh has cancelled this year's Taste of Tecumseh Food and Wine Festival.

The sixth annual festival was planned for June 12 and June 13 at Lakewood Park in Tecumseh.

"I am not happy that we have to continue to cancel community celebrations and events that our residents look forward to," said Mayor Gary McNamara. "But it's necessary for the health and well-being of Tecumseh."

The Town of Tecumseh and Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach will try to reschedule the event once social distancing measures are lifted.

The festival is a major fundraiser for a list of community initiatives, including the Victoria Day Fireworks, which have also been cancelled this year. It also supports the Family Fun Fair, recreational skates and swims, the Hospice of Windsor, and Essex County and Crime Stoppers.
