Man Charged with Drug Possession

A Chatham man has been charged with carrying illegal drugs during his bike ride.

Police said the man was riding a bicycle on Gray Street in Chatham Monday morning and the officer discovered he was wanted for breaching his probation and failing to attend court.

The 20-year-old man was searched before being arrested and the officer found what's believed to be methamphetamine, clear baggies, and cash in his possession.

He has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Man Charged with Domestic-Related Offences

An ill-advised phone call to his ex-girlfriend has landed a Chatham man in hot water with police.

On Monday morning, Chatham-Kent police received information that a man who is currently under conditions not to contact his former girlfriend, had called her.

The 25-year-old suspect was arrested and has been charged with uttering threats and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

Breach of Curfew leads to Drug Charges

This man had two reasons to stay home.

Police said a 38-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with drug possession and failing to comply with his release conditions  after officers were called about an unwanted man in the downtown Chatham area around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police learned that he was currently bound by a daily curfew and was out during COVID-19 emergency restrictions.

He was searched before his arrest and officers found suspected methamphetamine on him.

Theft of Construction Tools in Chatham

Some tools were stolen in Chatham over the weekend and police are looking for whoever did it.

Police said someone entered a locked compound on Riverview Drive sometime this weekend and stole various construction tools from locked trailers. The total value of the theft is estimated at $2,200.

Stolen Car in Chatham

Police in Chatham-Kent are searching for a stolen classic car.

Police said a navy blue 1985 Pontiac Firebird was stolen from a garage on Eastlawn Road sometime overnight on Tuesday. Investigators added the keys were left in it and the vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CDRP 485.
