COVID-19 outbreak declared at Sumac Lodge

There are now three declared COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care homes in Sarnia.

Lambton Public Health is reporting that one staff member at Sumac Lodge on Blackwell Road has tested positive.

Another case involving an employee has also been reported at Landmark Village retirement home where 30 residents and 10 staff are confirmed to have the virus.

An outbreak declared April 23 at Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia has a total of five confirmed cases, three residents and two staff members.

There was a short-lived outbreak declared April 15 at Petrolia's Lambton Meadowview Villa that ended on April 23 and affected just one staff member.

The health unit reported Monday night that there are 178 confirmed cases of the virus, up from 170 Sunday night.

Lambton Public Health says to date, 84 people have recovered and the death toll remains at 14.

The last death was reported on April 20.

Bluewater Health reported Tuesday that 12 patients are in hospital with the virus and 17 are suspected of having it with tests pending.
