More focus on child care for workers

Huron County, along with the province of Ontario, is providing emergency child care workers who have no place for their children to go while they work.

Huron County Warden Jim Ginn said child centres were not considered an essential service with so many people no longer going to work, but that isn't always the case.

"In an instance where a husband and wife were both front line workers and they had no place for their children, that's not a workable solution either, so the county has put in place emergency child care for our workers," said Ginn.

The county has established emergency child care centres in Goderich and Exeter for those people.

"We do have a lot of people who are married to a spouse that works in the same industry as they do and should that be paramedics or hospital workers, the likes of that, we need to give them options as well," added Ginn.

More information about who qualifies and how to apply for the child care service can be found at huroncounty.ca/childrens-services.
