Sikh community comes through for truckers

Rightfully so, there has been much focus on frontline healthcare workers, but one community in Windsor wants to make sure the people keeping the supply chain going get some love too.

The Khalsa Aid Windsor Charity Organization plans to provide truck drivers with a free meal at the Ambassador Bridge Duty-Free Shop.

Between noon and 2 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday, members of the Sikh community will feed truckers crossing the border.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens helped kick off the first free lunch Thursday.

"It's just another great way that our community is coming together to make sure that those folks that we don't think a whole lot about, those truck drivers who are bringing all those goods to the stores we need to shop at get recognized as well," said Dilkens.
