Premier Doug Ford is telling some Ontario businesses to get ready to reopen.
The province has released a number of health and safety guidelines for multiple industries in the province to protect employees when they go back to work.
"I want companies to start getting ready. We're getting close, I'm giving you hope. We're getting close, get ready," said Ford. "Based on health and science we need to continue seeing the curve flatten, we need to see the numbers continue to go down, not just for a few days but for a couple weeks. But the reason we are throwing out these guidelines, there's a reason, get ready we're going to get things moving."
To prepare for the reopening the government is recommending businesses start to take steps like installing plexiglass barriers, using ground markings to promote physical distancing, and promoting proper workplace sanitation. All of the guidelines, based on industry, can be found on the province's website.
To help enforce these guidelines, the province has hired an additional 58 inspectors. They will be responsible for educating businesses on COVID-19 practices and, in the case of multiple infractions, will be able to issue fines where necessary.
On Monday, the province released a roadmap for reopening businesses in the province, however, no firm dates have been released yet.
