Speeder stopped in Tilbury

A 34-year-old man from Belle River is on the hook for a $329 fine and 4 demerit points after he was stopped for speeding in Tilbury Thursday night.

Chatham-Kent police said an officer with the traffic unit recorded an SUV going 94 kilometres per hour in a posted 50 km/h zone on Mill Street East in Tilbury before handing out that ticket.

Police are reminding drivers to slow down for everyone's safety.

Garages broken into

Chatham-Kent police are reminding you to lock your homes, garages, and vehicles as they investigate two more thefts that took place earlier this week.

Officers said sometime Wednesday night, someone entered an unlocked garage on Talbot Trail in Blenheim and then broke into two unlocked vehicles that were parked inside.

The suspect took off with a wallet that had money, identification, and bank cards inside.

Police said in a separate theft on the same night, someone entered a garage on Harwich Road and took off with an industrial heater.

Anyone with information should contact police or Crime Stoppers. And anyone who sees or hears anything suspicious at any time should call police immediately.

Wanted men arrested on warrants

A 33-year-old man who was wanted by Chatham-Kent police has been arrested after police in Sarnia picked him up Thursday afternoon.

CK police said he was wanted on a surety relief warrant and was taken back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

In a separate arrest Thursday night, officers picked up a 27-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a theft of wiring from a business on Queen Street in Chatham last weekend.

The accused in the second case was arrested, charged with theft and possession of stolen property, and later released with conditions and a future court date.
