The Family Health teams from North Huron and North Perth will be opening a COVID-19 testing site.
On Friday, the health teams said that they will open the site on May 5 at the outpatient building on 285 Sarah Ave. in Listowel. It will operate from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, and they will increase the hours if the need arises.
To better protect everyone, there will be no walk-ins accepted, you must book an appointment with the test site to have a test done. When you arrive for your test, present yourself to the staff at the door, they will take your name and ask you to wait in your car until it's time for your test. Bring your valid OHIP card, and following the test, you'll be given information on how you can check your test result.
Staff are recommending you take the virtual self-assessment for COVID-19 which can be found on the Ontario government website.
Please note, this is not an assessment centre. All assessments will continue to be done virtually through your health care provider.
Process: 1. Complete the self-assessment found at an Ontario government site. Should you have a positive screen, please contact your primary care provider for a virtual assessment. If you do not have a primary care provider, please contact public health at 1-888-221-2133. Based on the virtual assessment, you may be recommended to have a Covid-19 swab. Your provider will call the North Perth FHT clinic at (519) 291-4200 to book a Covid-19 test.
2. Please ensure that you bring your OHIP card.
3. Upon arrival at the site, please park in the hospital parking lot in the designated area and follow the arrows. Present to the staff at the door who will take your name and you will be asked to return to your car to await your appointment if needed. Please note, only one person at a time is allowed into the testing site. If you have a circumstance that would require an additional person to attend with you, please let us know when you make your appointment.
4. Following the test, you will be given information as to how you can check on your COVID-19 test result. We will remind you to continue to self-isolate and to contact your primary care provider with any new symptoms or concerns. You will be directed to leave the building by a side entrance.
