Police seize drugs, pellet pistol during search

Three people have been arrested after Chatham-Kent police found some suspected methamphetamine while searching a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham Wednesday night.

Police said they seized the drugs and a .177 pellet pistol while they were carrying out a search warrant at the address.

A 21-year-old man from Charing Cross, a 23-year-old man from Chatham, and a 34-year-old man from Chatham were all arrested and charged with drug possession.

The 34-year-old man was also charged with possession of a firearm contrary to his prohibition order.

All three of the accused were later released pending a future court date.

Threats issued over parking spot in Wallaceburg

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges after he allegedly threatened a property manager at an apartment building Wednesday morning.

Chatham-Kent police said the threats were issued during an argument about a parking spot at the building on Wallace Street.

Investigators said the accused was a guest of a tenant in the building and was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats. He was later released with a future court date.

Two people arrested after disturbance call

A 52-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman who had been ordered not to communicate with each other have both been arrested in connection with a "disturbance" call in Chatham Wednesday night.

Chatham-Kent police said the incident was at a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue, adding that both of the accused were arrested, charged, and later released with future court dates.

Accused motorcycle thief arrested

A 36-year-old Chatham who was wanted for stealing a motorcycle and a cell phone has been arrested.

Chatham-Kent police said the motorbike was stolen from a residence on Edgar Street in Chatham last month.

The accused was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft, and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was later released with a future court date.

Tools reported stolen in Chatham

Chatham-Kent police are working to track down some hand tools and some power tools that were reported stolen from a business on Park Avenue East in Chatham recently.

Officers said the items -- with a combined value of $600 -- were taken during a break-in sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Man on house arrest spotted taking a cab

A 19-year-old Wallaceburg man who was supposed to stay at home has been arrested after police allegedly spotted him leaving a taxi cab near a restaurant on St. Clair Street in Chatham Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the man was released from court at the end of March with several conditions -- one of which was that he was supposed to remain in his residence at all times, except for medical emergencies or if he had an approved surety with him.

When police saw the man getting out of the cab, he wasn't abiding by those conditions.

As a result, the accused was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
