St. Marys to begin curbside leaf and yard waste collection this month

Following a loosening of COVID-19 restrictions from the province, the Town of St. Marys has reversed its decision to delay the curbside leaf and yard waste program.

The program will begin on time now on Monday, May 18 for properties in the southeast and southwest areas of St. Marys. Collection will start on the following Monday, May 25, for properties in the north and west areas of town. It will continue to be collected on the Monday of residents’ recycling week until November 23, 2020. To protect workers, reusable containers will not be permitted, residents are asked to use paper bags. The town also would like twigs and branches tied into small bundles.

Additionally, St. Marys will re-open landfill sites on weekdays to the general public starting Tuesday, May 19th. This will be for regular, non-hazardous waste which residents can drop off Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. It will remain closed Saturdays. Only debit or credit with tap will be accepted, no cash transfers. Social distancing and other restrictions will be in place to protect residents and staff.
