COVID-19 numbers flattening in Chatham-Kent

Public health officials in Chatham-Kent have again reported that there are no new cases of COVID-19 in the community.

CK Public Health reported the region still has six active cases and three of them are from the outbreak at Greenhill Produce. A total of 52 Greenhill workers tested positive for the virus in late April, but 49 have recovered.

The local health unit said the total number of confirmed cases to date is still at 90 and there has been just one death.  No one from Chatham-Kent is currently in the hospital with COVID-19 and there are still no cases of the virus at any of the long-term care homes in Chatham-Kent. CK Public Health said it has tested just over 2,100 people and 39 results are pending.

Walpole Island First Nation is reporting eight active cases of COVID-19 and that includes two new cases since Friday. Three of the 11 people who have caught the virus to date have recovered. Walpole Island leadership said so far no one has died as a result of COVID-19.

A total of 40 tests have been done in that community so far with 28 negative results and one result pending. Officials added the health centre will continue to keep in touch with those infected and their close contacts who should be isolating.
