Windsor's emergency childcare expands to Leamington

Emergency support workers in southeast Essex County can now take advantage of the City of Windsor's child care program.

The city's Children's Services department announced Thursday that the emergency childcare provided by the province of Ontario is now expanded to Leamington.

The emergency program has been in effect since early April, and offers childcare to those working in health care and as first responders. The service is provided at no cost to those workers in professions outlined by the province.

These are the childcare centres that have been approved for this program:

  • The Toy Box Early Childhood Education Centre Inc. - 197 Talbot Street West,  Leamington
  • Olivia DiMaio Inc. - 430 Advance Boulevard, Lakeshore
  • Olivia DiMaio Inc. - 1700 Sprucewood Avenue, LaSalle
  • The Children’s House Montessori (BrightPath) - 2611 Labelle Street,  Windsor
  • The School House Academy - 3450 Ypres, Windsor
The city has also listed some childcare agencies as having space available. These can be found on the city's official website.

Parents wishing to apply must do so through the Children's Services Department online, or by calling (519) 255-5312 to ensure eligibility requirements have been satisfied. Do not call the childcare centre directly.
