Man arrested for driving while impaired

Police responded to a call about a vehicle in the ditch on Park Avenue just before 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The driver and a passenger were identified and officers found the driver to be impaired.

The driver was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he tested positive for drugs. The 23-year-old man was charged with impaired by drug and released with a future court date.

Suspicious man arrested for theft

Officers received a call on Saturday regarding a suspicious person going through vehicles on Fairview Line.

When police arrived, they observed a male who fled into a nearby ditch.

Several hours later, the same man returned to the area. Officers were called again and found him hiding in a yard. A 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested for Theft and Possession under $5000, and the missing property was returned to the owner.

The man was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman arrested in motel bathroom

Police attended a motel seeking a female wanted on a warrant for failing to comply with her release order.

When officers arrived, they discovered the woman had barricaded herself inside the motel lobby's washroom. Police were forced to break down the bathroom door and then arrested the woman and added mischief to her charges.

The woman was transported to police headquarters where she was held for bail and later remanded into custody.

Man arrested for drunk driving

Police were informed of a possible impaired driver on Queens Line near Tilbury on Saturday.

Officers quickly located the described vehicle as it was entering Tilbury, and the driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

The 54-year-old male was taken back to police headquarters for breath tests and released with a future court date.
