CK Transit eases up on brakes as more services resume

More CK Transit routes will soon resume normal operations while maintaining current health and safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several scheduling changes resembling somewhat normal operations were announced earlier this month. Effective Monday, additional scheduling changes will get the green-light.

The On-Request Evening Service in Chatham will resume between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, with reduced capacity. Details on how to request a trip can be found here.

Inter-Urban Routes A, C, and D will return to full service with the 6:45 p.m. departure for the Chatham terminal.

Chatham Accessible will go back to its regular hours, from 6:15 a.m.to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. This service on Sunday is still suspended. The Seasonal Beach bus also remains suspended.

The use of public transit is still only to be used for essential purposes, such as going to or from work or going to purchase essential goods.

Free rides through CK Transit will not be offered on Clean Air Day, June 3.

"With social distancing restrictions in place and only 50 per cent of seats available on all buses, our transit services do not have the capacity to allow for additional riders," the municipality said in a news release.

However, residents are still encouraged to participate in Clean Air Day by doing some physical activities outside.
