A man from Chatham-Kent has been charged with several child pornography and sex offences.
The 27-year-old, whose name has not been released by police, was arrested after an investigation that started last week after Chatham-Kent police received a tip from the National Child Exploitation Crime Center.
Constable Renee Cowell said the Chatham-Kent Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Major Crime Unit began investigating when "credible evidence" suggested that a child from Chatham-Kent was being actively exploited online.
"The urgent nature of the information led to a multi-unit approach, with the intent of rescuing the child from their abuser and bringing the man responsible to justice," said Cowell.
The suspect has been charged with making, distributing, and possessing child pornography, as well as voyeurism, sexual assault, and sexual interference.
Cowell said the suspect's name has not been released to the public in order to protect the identity of the victim.
