A number of facilities in Huron County will be excited about re-opening this weekend, following the announcement this week that Ontario was now moving into phase two of the recovery.
Goderich Mayor John Grace, says council has instructed staff to be proactive in doing everything they can to help restaurants.
"So council gave staff firm direction to move very quickly and do whatever we can to help the restaurants open up. So staff have immediately put things in place to start communicating with all of the restaurants," said Grace.
Grace adds there will be no additional fees or licences required for patios. The goal is to support the town's restaurants in opening up their patios.
Grace adds they will also soon open the beach.
"We'll also open the beach this coming Monday. In five days we'll open the beach and have washrooms. We'll also be opening Rotary Cove, all the way down to the end, the following Monday, which is the 22nd," added Grace.
The Goderich mayor says physical distancing is still critical for protecting the health and safety of the public and staff and failing to continue that practice could see us slip back to where we were a couple of months ago.
