Twenty charges laid during traffic blitz

Twenty-three commercial vehicles have been taken out of service and 20 charges have been laid following a traffic blitz in Chatham.

As part of a joint effort between CKPS and the Ministry of Transportation, traffic enforcement -- specific to commercial vehicles -- was conducted on Tuesday

In total, 27 inspections were done.

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a break-in where someone stole a pickup truck and an ATV.

Police said someone broke into a garage on Tramway Road in Camden Township, sometime overnight.

A white four-door 2010 GMC Sierra, with the Ontario marker JR MACK, was reported stolen. A green 2002 Bomb TRX ATV, a blue air compressor, and a gas-powered paint sprayer were also reported stolen.

The theft is estimated at $20,000.

Chatham woman accused of assault

A 38-year-old Chatham woman is charged with assault.

Police said officers were called about an assault complaint on Selkirk Street on Tuesday.

Following an investigation, the 38-year-old was arrested and later released with a court date set for August 12.

Wanted women arrested

A 19-year-old Chatham woman wanted for allegedly breaching her conditions is now accused of being in possession of drugs.

Officers found the 19-year-old in Chatham on Tuesday morning. During her arrest, officers seized methamphetamine.

She was eventually released from police custody with a future court date set for August 13.

As part of a separate case, police arrested another 19-year-old Chatham woman on Tuesday.

Police said she was wanted for assault. Officers found her on Grande Avenue West. She was arrested and released with a future court date scheduled for August 12.

St. Thomas police help locate wanted man

Chatham-Kent police were able to arrest a 53-year-old man wanted on several outstanding warrants, thanks to some help from St. Thomas police.

The Chatham man was spotted by St. Thomas police on Tuesday morning. They notified CKPS of his location.
