Vision Nursing Home temporarily suspends visits

Vision Nursing Home has temporarily suspended both indoor and outdoor visits.

The decision was made after someone who visited a family member last week tested positive for COVID-19.

Administrator Virginia Bright said they're taking all of the necessary precautions to prevent another outbreak at the facility.

"We have swabbed any person who was in contact with this family member, and plan to reopen the home for visiting as soon as those results are returned to us," she said. "We are being overly cautious to ensure that we do not put any of our residents or employees at further risk."

There was a nearly two-month-long outbreak at Vision earlier this year. It was declared on April 23 and ended on June 18.

During that time, 26 residents and 28 staff members tested positive at the Wellington Street facility, and a total of 10 residents died from the virus.
