Baseball bat swinger hit with assault charges

A 60-year-old Chatham man is facing a pair of assault charges after he allegedly swung a baseball bat towards someone during a disturbance over a parking spot.

Police said the incident took place on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham Tuesday night. Officers said the man allegedly swung a baseball bat at one man and pushed a second man.

As a result, the accused was charged with assault and assault with a weapon, then released pending a future court date.

Meth, magic mushrooms allegedly found on suspicious man

A 35-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing drug-related charges after police allegedly found him carrying around some suspected methamphetamine and psilocybin.

Police said an officer on general patrol stopped the man on Lowe Avenue in Wallaceburg at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The accused was charged with one count of failing to comply with his release conditions and two counts of drug possession.

He was later released with a future court date.

Police chase ends in arrest, drug charges

A 24-year-old Dresden man is facing several charges after allegedly leading police on a motorcycle chase through Wallaceburg.

Investigators said an officer on general patrol tried to stop the man Tuesday afternoon after seeing him riding a motorcycle on Margaret Avenue.

Police said the man -- who is allegedly known to be a suspended driver -- failed to stop, speeding off instead.

The officer was able to track down the motorcycle on Lafontaine Street a short time later and arrested the man. Police said when they were searching him, they also found some suspected methamphetamine and cocaine in his possession.

The accused was charged with several driving and drug-related offences along with one count of breaching his probation.

He was later released pending a future court date.

Driveway visit in Tilbury leads to arrest

A Chatham man who was supposed to stay away from a specific Tilbury woman has been arrested after he allegedly showed up in her driveway.

Police said the man was released from the court back in 2018 with several conditions, including one that required him to stay away from a specific Tilbury woman's residence.

Officers said he was spotted in her driveway Tuesday morning, so police arrested him and took him back into custody.

He was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and then he was released again with a future court date.

ATV stolen from unlocked barn

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a red 2012 Suzuki ATV that was reported stolen from an unlocked barn on Chenal Road in Wallaceburg.

Police said it was taken sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Assault charge after domestic call

A 21-year-old Wheatley man is charged with assault in connection with a domestic dispute call at a residence in Wheatley.

Police said they received the call Tuesday afternoon, adding the accused was later released with a future court date.
