Warnings have been issued by LaSalle police after a recent house party violated COVID-19 guidelines.
It happened on the night of Friday, September 25 at a home near the corner of Cousineau Road and Northway Avenue. Officers responded to a complaint about a large party at the location.
When they arrived, there were at least 30 young people on the premises. According to a release on the service's website, partygoers began fleeing the house when they saw the officers, but the young resident of the home, the apparent host, spoke with the police.
"The young person confessed that his parents were out of town, who were then contacted by police and returned early," read the release.
The young man and his parents were sternly warned that holding gatherings that exceed guidelines set by provincial and local officials was a serious matter and that fines could have been imposed. No charges were filed.
The Ontario government has scaled back the number of people allowed to gather in one place to ten people indoors and 25 people outdoors in response to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases. Under Stage Three reopening guidelines, the limits were previously 50 for indoor and 100 outdoor.
