Grey Bruce medical officer urges people to limit unprotected contacts

Another three cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit Monday, one in Blue Mountains, and two in Southgate.

There is also one preliminary positive case pending confirmation. There are 50 active cases, as well as eight active probable cases that did not get tested. One person is in hospital.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Arra said there are also 280 high-risk Contacts associated with active cases. He added it takes a tremendous amount of effort to manage this number of high-risk contacts. And he warned the number will keep increasing unless people start limiting unprotected encounters with all people outside of their own households.

There have been no deaths in Grey Bruce. There are no outbreaks in schools, seniors homes or daycare centres.

In Grey County, there are 15 active cases in Southgate, three in Owen Sound, three in Grey Highlands, four in West Grey, five in Blue Mountains, and four in Hanover. In Bruce County, there are nine active cases in Kincardine, four in Arran Elderslie, and two in Huron Kinloss.
