No outbreak at St. Pat's despite three COVID-positive students

Despite three positive cases of COVID-19 among St. Patrick's students, there is not an outbreak at the high school.

St. Clair Catholic District School Board Director Deb Crawford told Sue Storr on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM) Monday, that a letter of explanation was sent home to parents.

"It explains there's three confirmed cases, but they're related to outside the school and that's a really important point for us," said Crawford. "It's the silver lining here, that at this time there's no evidence of transmission within the school, so this was contracted outside of the school."

The board updated the COVID-19 advisory page on its website Friday to say an initial case reported last Tuesday had grown to three.

Crawford said Lambton Public Health's contact tracing went through 32 classes, resulting in the closure of three, and precautionary quarantine for four staff members.

She said they were fortunate in that they had just changed cohorts in their pandemic quadmester system.

Lambton Public Health reported one more resolved case Monday, bringing the active case count to 17.
