Local organizations are continuing to give back to Chatham-Kent residents despite the pandemic.
Kent & Essex Mutual, located on Creek Road in Chatham, was one of 49 mutual insurers that received a one-time payment of $41,000 from Cambridge-based company Farm Mutual Re.
With that funding, Kent & Essex Mutual provided donations to numerous charities across Chatham-Kent as well as in Windsor-Essex. Recipients were selected by Kent & Essex staff and directors.
"We hope the donations will make it easier for these valuable organizations to continue to do their great work," said Kent & Essex CEO Kevin Konecny. "The needs of our members and community always come first and it’s a practice we have believed in for over 132 years.”
Women United, an affinity group with the United Way of Chatham-Kent, also recently received a $2,690 donation from the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors.
Women United provides opportunities to help women and their families in vulnerable situations by supporting areas where there are gaps in funding, programs, and services in Chatham-Kent.
“We are so thankful for this donation," said Marge Muharrem, individual and major gifts associate and donor relations with the United Way of CK. "It has been a hard year for so many people in the community, but groups like the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors are helping to make things a little easier."
