COVID-19 case numbers climb in Midwestern Ontario

A dozen new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Huron Perth Wednesday.

Public Health reported 59 active cases, and 344 others are self isolating. Five people are in hospital.

Four of the new cases are in North Perth, four in Perth East, two in Howick and one each in Stratford and Huron East.

There are outbreaks at Listowel Memorial and Stratford General Hospitals, along with St. Mary's Catholic School in Listowel. An outbreak is also ongoing at Cedarcroft Retirement Home in Stratford.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported another 33 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Wednesday, for a total of 230 active cases. There are 14 hospitalizations.

Eleven of the new cases are located in Wellington County, where there are 44 active cases, and two hospitalizations.

Caressant Care in Arthur is under outbreak protocols. There are seven active cases Minto, five in Wellington North and ten in Mapleton.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit  reported nine new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed for a total of 33 active and six probable cases. They are connected to 232 high risk contacts.

Wednesday's new cases included two in Southgate, two in Owen Sound, two in Arran Elderslie, and one each in Saugeen Shores, Huron Kinloss and Brockton.

Four people are in hospital, and Lee Manor Long-Term Care facility in Owen Sound continues outbreak protocols.
