London-area records 87th COVID-19 death

A man in his 80s has become the 87th person with COVID-19 to die in the London area.

Updated figures released by the Middlesex London Health Unit show that the man was not associated with long-term care or retirement home.

There were also 65 new COVID-19 cases reported in the region on Sunday. The total number of cases is now at 2,473.

Meanwhile, 71 new cases were listed as being resolved on Sunday, with the number of recoveries in the region now at 1,969.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit covering St. Thomas, Woodstock and Elgin and Oxford counties, reported 23 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours. Since the start of the pandemic, the region has recorded a total of 917 cases.

Province-wide, the case count reached 155,930 on Sunday with public health officials in Ontario confirming 2,316 new cases.
