Multiple new COVID-19 related deaths are being reported in the Windsor-Essex region.
The three deaths, along with 117 new cases of the virus, were reported on Sunday morning by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.
The latest individuals to pass away were a woman in her 70s from the community, a man in his 80s from a long-term care home and a woman in her 80s from a long-term care home.
There are currently eight long-term care homes in the region in COVID-19 outbreak and four outbreaks at retirement homes.
The total number of people who have died due to the virus in the region now sits at 98. Meanwhile, the total number of cases is now at 5,734. Of those cases, 1,066 are listed as being active and 74 are hospitalized.
According to the health unit, seven of the latest cases are outbreak-related, four are from close contact of a confirmed case, one is community-acquired and 105 are still being investigated.
Elsewhere, provincial health officials recorded a total of 2,316 new cases of the virus on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in Ontario to 155,930. Over 69,400 tests have been completed in Ontario over the past 24 hours.
