Eight COVID-19 cases identified at TVDSB schools

The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) has identified eight more confirmed cases of COVID-19 within its schools, just as students start thier winter break.

The school board reported two new COVID-19 cases at Westminster Secondary School on Sunday. Cases were also identified at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School, Emily Carr Public School, AB Lucas Secondary School, Parkside Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas, Medway Secondary School in Middlesex County, and Lord Dorchester Secondary School.

The school board is working with the Middlesex London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health in order to identify close contacts.

There are now 40 active cases of COVID-19 at school communities under the TVDSB.

Students marked their last day of school before the winter break on Friday. Classes are scheduled to resume on January 4, 2021. However, staff and students were directed to take home their personal belongings in case a switch to remote learning is made.

The London District Catholic School Board is now reporting eight active cases within its school communities. A list of active cases can be found by clicking, here.

The Middlesex London Health Unit reported 65 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, while the Southwestern Public Health reported 23 new cases.
