The local conservation authority is warning residents of flooding along Erie Shore Drive.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority issued a flood warning for Erie Shore Drive on Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials with the conservation authority, flooding has already occurred on parts of the roadway.
"There is currently flooding along Erie Shore Drive in Chatham-Kent," said Watershed and Information Services Manager Jason Wintermute. "There is water on many properties and water has made it onto the roadway in several locations."
The flooding is predicted to continue for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. Any non-essential traffic is being asked to avoid the area.
"Flooding should end this evening when winds switch to the west," said Wintermute. "Temperatures are predicted to drop below freezing overnight and any remaining water could produce slippery and hazardous conditions."
Meanwhile, a flood watch that was issued on Tuesday for other areas of the Lake Erie shoreline remains in effect.
