Nine dismissed from Holy Names High School

A positive COVID-19 case at a Windsor Catholic high school has resulted in more students being told to stay home.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board said Wednesday afternoon that nine students at Holy Names Catholic High School have been told not to report to the building on Thursday after a second case was identified at the school.

"We should add that this group of students was part of the cohort that had not yet been in attendance this week and therefore did not need to be dismissed from school," said board spokesman Stephen Fields. "We have been working with the health unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected."

As has been the procedure with each confirmed case, parents of students who had direct contact with the affected individual will be notified and given further instructions.

Two cohorts from Holy Names were sent home two weeks ago when the first case there was identified.

According to the board's COVID-19 webpage on Wednesday afternoon, there are currently 17 active cases across the school system, affecting a total of six school buildings. All buildings, including Holy Names, will be open for classes as usual Thursday.
