Dozens of new COVID-19 cases in Midwestern Ontario

Midwestern Ontario has seen the COVID-19 case count grow substantially.

Huron Perth Public health reports another 50 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed since yesterday. 21 of the new cases are in Stratford and seven in North Perth. There are 106 active cases. Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh, and West Perth are currently the only two municipalities in the two counties that don't have active cases confirmed.

There have now been 22 fatalities in Huron Perth related to COVID-19, and four people are currently in the hospital.

Long Term Care Home outbreaks continue at Braemar in Morris Turnberry, Exeter Villa, and Hillside Manor in Perth East.

The Exeter Villa Retirement Home is also in outbreak, as is Livingstone Manor in North Perth.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reports another nine cases of COVID-19 were confirmed since Sunday. There are 46 active cases in the region and two people are hospitalized with COVID. There are also ten active probable cases. 133 high risk contacts are associated with the active cases.

There have been no fatalities in Grey Bruce connected to COVID-19. There is a COVID-19 outbreak at Sepoy Manor in Lucknow.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public health reports another 163 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed since Friday. There are 395 active cases in the region and six people are hospitalized with COVID.

34 of the new cases were in Wellington County, where there are 72 active cases and one hospitalization. There have been six fatalities in Wellington since the pandemic began.  There are COVID-19 outbreaks at Caressant Care Retirement and Long Term Care homes in Arthur. There is also an outbreak at Royal Terrace Long Term Care Home in Palmerston.
