Woman accused of stealing disinfectant machine
A 48-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole a disinfectant machine from the Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said they learned about the theft when they were called to the store for a shoplifting complaint Thursday afternoon.
Officers were able to track down the woman a short distance away from the store and arrested her. They also managed to recover the stolen item, valued at $120, and returned it to the store.
The accused was charged with theft and possession of property obtained by crime, then released with a future court date.

Driver hits hydro pole in stolen pickup truck, flees scene
Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips in connection with a vehicle theft in Chatham that came crashing to a halt.
Police said they were called to the scene on Blythewood Crescent at around 3:45 a.m. Friday, adding their initial investigation shows that a black Ford F-150 with Ontario license plates AX74 909 hit a light post, causing approximately $10,000 in damage.
Officers were able to find the truck a short distance from the scene of the crash, but it was abandoned.
A check of the truck showed that it was stolen from a residence on Merritt Avenue sometime between 7 p.m. Thursday night and 3 a.m. Friday morning.

Another stolen truck, this one didn't crash
Chatham-Kent police are also looking for a 1989 silver Chevrolet pickup truck that was stolen from a business on Marlborough Street in Blenheim sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
Police said the truck was last seen with Ontario license plates VX8 355.

Two arrests on outstanding warrants
A 20-year-old Wallaceburg man and a 36-year-old woman of no fixed address who were both wanted by Chatham-Kent police have been arrested.
Police said the 20-year-old was wanted for criminal harassment and failing to attend court for fingerprinting. He was arrested Thursday morning and later released with a future court date.
The 36-year-old woman was wanted for breaching her probation order and was also arrested in connection with shoplifting incidents at Shoppers Drug Mart and Home Hardware last month.
She was arrested Thursday afternoon, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
