Sarnia-Lambton's month-long surge in COVID-19 cases appears to be levelling off.
In its daily update Wednesday, Lambton Public Health reported 10 new confirmed cases over the past 24 hours, the lowest single day increase in two weeks. There were 32 more recoveries dropping the active case count by 21 to 202.
The number of confirmed cases since late March is now at 1,685, 1,450 of which are deemed resolved. The death toll is unchanged at 33 and there is still a total of 13 institutional and workplace outbreaks, including 10 at long-term care and retirement homes.
On Wednesday, the health unit website showed 25 infected residents, 10 staff and two deaths at Village on the St. Clair Retirement Home. Vison Rest Home had 16 residents who have tested positive, and two staff, and there were 16 residents and four staff with the virus and one death at Twin Lakes Terrace Long-Term Care Home. The number of active workplace outbreaks Wednesday was at two with a total of 11 cases.
Bluewater Health has 10 COVID-positive patients in hospital, also unchanged from Tuesday.
