A COVID-19 outbreak declared at Palmerston Hospital has now sickened eight people, and one person has succumbed to the virus.
Public health in Wellington County have reported 18 fatalities during the pandemic, and eleven new cases were added over the weekend. Outbreaks also continue at Caressant Long Term Care in Arthur, and Wellington Terrace in Fergus. Five people are in hospital. There are 71 active cases.
Huron Perth Public Health reported a resident of Seaforth Manor became the 40th Huron Perth resident to die due to COVID 19. 54 people there have tested positive at Seaforth Manor since an outbreak began. In all, 110 residents and staff have tested positive at the Caressant Care Long Term Care and Retirement Homes in Listowel.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen says many of the cases are resolving. But there is a new long term care outbreak at Fordwich Village in Howick, where a staff member tested positive.
There were 19 new cases of COVID-19 added in Huron Perth Monday, ten of them in Huron East. Four people are in hospital with COVID-19. There are 79 active cases.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit added one new case of COVID-19 Monday, in The Blue Mountains. There are 30 active cases and two hospitalizations. The Health Unit reported the region's first COVID-19 fatality over the weekend.
