Stolen vehicle leads to arrest
Chatham-Kent police were able to nab a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
On Saturday morning, while on general patrol, officers located a stolen vehicle from Sarnia on Victoria Road in Ridgetown.A 44-year-old Petrolia man was found in possession of the stolen vehicle. Police checks revealed that he was also wanted by Ontario Provincial Police.
The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters where he was charged with possession of stolen property. Custody was then transferred over to OPP.
Man arrested after multiple thefts
A man will have to answer to several charges after getting arrested in connection to a pair of thefts in Chatham.
It started on Friday morning when someone allegedly broke into a vehicle on Gregory Drive and stole the victim's wallet.
The same person then broke into a work trailer down the street and got away with several thousand dollars worth of tools.
Later in the day, the suspect allegedly used the stolen debit/credit cards and made over $200 in purchases. Police were able to capture an image of the suspect.
On Saturday morning, police on general patrol located the man.
The 23-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, trespassing at night, mischief and unauthorized use of a credit card.
He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
Warrant arrests
Two people have a future court date after a pair of separate warrant arrests in Chatham.On Saturday evening, police on general patrol located a woman in a St. Clair Street parking lot who was wanted for failing to comply with her probation.
The Wallaceburg woman was arrested, transported to police headquarters and was released from custody with a future court date.
On Sunday morning, police located a man on Queen Street who was wanted for failing to attend court.
The Chatham man was arrested and taken to police headquarters before being released with a future court date.
