Health officials in Windsor-Essex are reporting some of the lowest daily COVID-19 numbers seen in a while.
On Sunday, the local health unit logged 15 additional cases of the virus bringing the overall case count to 12,334. Currently, 370 cases are active and 51 individuals are hospitalized.
Four of Sunday's cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, two are outbreak-related, two and community-acquired while seven are still under investigation.
There were no new deaths reported on Sunday, with the local death toll still sitting at 343.
The health unit is continuing to monitor 12 outbreaks at local long-term care and retirement homes, down from 13 on Saturday as well as 11 workplace outbreaks, down from 12 on Saturday. There is also one less hospital outbreak in the region, for a total of four.
Elsewhere, provincial health officials recorded a total of 1,489 new cases of the virus on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in Ontario to 278,207. There were also 22 new deaths reported across the province and 1,937 recoveries.
