A Fairfield Park Nursing Home resident in her 90s is the latest COVID-19 death in Chatham-Kent.
The local health unit reported the new death on Monday, to bring the total number of deaths in the region to seven.
Health officials also reported 38 new cases and 32 resolved cases for an active case count of 141, five more than Friday.
Copper Terrace Long-term Care Home in Chatham is the latest to be declared in outbreak after a staff member tested positive for the virus.
The number of institutional outbreaks stayed the same at five after the outbreak at Meadow Park Nursing Home in Chatham was declared over on Friday. Fairfield Park's outbreak is now up to a total of 92 cases.
Meanwhile, health officials in Chatham-Kent are continuing with their vaccination efforts. However, Fairfield Park will not receive the vaccine until permitted to do so, based on provincial guidelines for homes in outbreak.
According to Jeff Moco of CK Public Health Communications, the second batch of vaccines that arrived in the municipality on Friday will be enough to complete the first round of vaccinations for the first priority group of residents.
"Over the past weekend, staff from CK Public Health and Chatham-Kent EMS continued work to vaccinate residents of long-term care homes and “high risk” retirement homes across Chatham-Kent," said Moco. "The teams were deployed to all corners of Chatham-Kent and vaccinated facilities located in Blenheim, Chatham, Ridgetown, Tilbury and Wallaceburg."
