Gradual uptick in active COVID cases continues in Sarnia-Lambton

Lambton Public Health reported just a handful a new COVID-19 infections Friday but a gradual uptick in active cases continued.

Since the start of the pandemic there's been 1,909 confirmed infections, up five from Thursday.

The number of resolved cases has increased by three to 1,803, pushing the active case count up to 61 from 59 Thursday. Active cases had dropped to 43 on Tuesday before edging higher again.

There are eight active institutional and workplace outbreaks, down from nine. An outbreak declared January 28 at Petrolia's Lambton Meadowview Villa Long-term Care Home involving just one staff member has ended. The most recent outbreak was declared Wednesday at Country Manor Estates Retirement Home in Lambton Shores where one staff member tested positive.

Bluewater Health reported again Friday that it has no COVID-positive patients in hospital.
